Ukrainian forces have destroyed an ammunition depot near the Russian-occupied port city of Genichesk in the country’s southern Kherson region, Sergei Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odessa military administration, said Sunday.
“In the morning, our armed forces dealt a good blow – a very strong blow – to the village of Rykovo in the Genichesk district in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region,” Serhiy Bratchuk said in a video message.
“There was a very important ammunition depot there. It was destroyed,” he adds.
Russia had no immediate comment on the alleged attack, Reuters reported. Ukrainian media published videos showing a huge cloud of smoke with the sounds of explosions.
Rykovo is about 20 km from Genichesk, a port city on the Sea of Azov in southern Ukraine, occupied by Kremlin forces since the early days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
