The submersible is owned by OceanGate Expeditions, which has guaranteed that it will “mobilize all means” to rescue the crew.
On board the submarine are reportedly a pilot, a “content specialist” and three paying passengers, one of whom will be British billionaire Hamish Harding, CEO of an aviation company in Dubai. The cost of the eight-day expedition is 230,000 euros per person, and the dive to the wreck of the Titanic at a depth of 3800 meters lasts about eight hours.
Pakistani businessman Shahzada Daoud and his son Suleman are also on board, Reuters reported, citing the missing man’s family. “We are very grateful for the care shown by our colleagues and friends and would like to ask everyone to pray for their safety,” the family said in a statement.
Shahzada Dawood is the vice president of Engro Corporation, one of Pakistan’s largest companies, which invests in fertilizers, automobiles, energy and digital technologies. According to the businessman’s family, he and his son planned to go to the crash site of the Titanic.
Paul-Henry Nargeoleth is also on board, according to The Guardian. The former commander of the French fleet is considered the greatest expert on the sinking of the Titanic.
It is not known exactly what went wrong, as is the exact location of the submarine.
