Former TAP executive chairman Fernando Pinto explains that his €1.6m contract included exceptional service provision and a non-compete commitment, an alternative to an administration position for which he was unavailable.
In a total of 17 pages of answers to more than 100 questions from the TAP Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, a document that Lusa had access to, Fernando Pinto begins by noting that it is “important to contextualize the contract for the provision of services” that he signed with TAP after stepping down as airline president.
“Given my nearly 20 years of experience leading the TAP executive committee and 50 years in the aviation sector, the shareholders intended to continue to count on my professional input either in supporting new private management (with no TAP experience) or on key strategic issues for the company.” , he emphasizes.
