Investigation BBClasting for about a year, revealed a global network of sadistic torture of baby monkeys stretching from Indonesia to the United States of America.
A BBC found hundreds of clients in the US, UK and other countries who pay Indonesians to torture and kill baby monkeys. The network started on Youtube and later moved to closed groups on Telegram.
Journalists BBC infiltrated one of the Telegram torture groups, where hundreds of people came together to put forward the idea of torture and hire people in Indonesia and other Asian countries to carry it out. The goal was to make films about monkeys being tortured and sometimes killed.
According to BBC, the police are now chasing the buyers and several arrests have already been made. At least 20 people are now under investigation around the world.
YouTube told BBCin a statement that animal cruelty has “no place” on the platform and that the company is “working hard to quickly remove infringing content.” [das normas da plataforma]”.
Telegram, on the other hand, has stated that it is “committed to protecting user privacy and human rights such as freedom of expression”, noting that its moderators “cannot actively patrol private groups”.
