The European Union (EU) condemned this Wednesday an attack that killed four people near a West Bank settlement on Tuesday and expressed concern about the escalation of violence between Palestinians and Israelis.
European diplomacy said in a statement that such attacks, which it called terrorist attacks, are “unacceptable and never retaliatory” and that the EU “remains strongly committed to preventing and combating terrorism.”
“The European Union is deeply concerned about the escalation of violence in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, as well as the expansion of settlements. Earlier this week, 27 countries expressed concern about the expansion of settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which Israel wants to implement.
The conflict between Palestinians and Israelis began over 80 years ago, and the violence has escalated in recent months.
The EU advocates a two-state solution.
