A Kremlin spokesman on Tuesday denied information that he knew the whereabouts of businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, who, according to the Belarusian monitoring group, will arrive on Tuesday by plane at the airfield in Minsk.
“I have no data on him,” Peskov said at his usual telephone press conference.
The private jet of the Russian oligarch who heads the Wagner group was supposed to land at the Machulishchi military airfield near Minsk on Tuesday, according to the Belarusian investigative group Gayun, which monitors military operations in the country.
The device will land at 7:37 local time (4:37 am in Lisbon), according to Flightradar24, which also monitors flights.
This is an Embraer Legacy 600 with registration number RA-02795, which has been on the US sanctions list since 2019 for its association with Prigozhin, despite the fact that the old registration was M-SAAN.
Another private jet, number RA-02878 from St. Petersburg, Russia, landed at 7:58 (4:58 am in Lisbon) also at Machulishchi airfield, according to Gajun.
It is not yet known whether the Russian oligarch Prigozhin was on board one of the two planes.
Official authorities in Minsk did not provide information about these two aircraft, journalists did not track it directly and did not check independent sources.
The last time the leader of the Wagner group was publicly seen on the night of June 24, when he left the city of Rostov-on-Don, occupied by contract soldiers, by car.
On Monday, the oligarch, without disclosing his whereabouts, published an audio message on Telegram stating that the “armed rebellion” was not intended to overthrow the Russian government, but to protest against the intentions of the Ministry of Defense, which accused the company of wanting to dismantle it.
