A 10-year-old boy died on Saturday after suffocating while having lunch at a school in Caversham, near Reading, UK.
Oscar collapsed and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he died the next day surrounded by his family. According to Mirror, the boy’s relatives have already thanked the school staff and students who did everything to try to save the child.
“In everything he did, in whatever field he worked, he showed an infectious curiosity, a thirst not only for knowledge, but also for understanding, as well as a desire to learn and share them. We, his parents, brothers and sisters, are heartbroken,” the family said.
The school principal said the entire school community was devastated by the loss of Oscar. “He was unfailingly polite,” said the woman.
