A firefighter adopts the first child placed in a box to save children in West Ocala, Florida, USA.
In accordance with good morning american, Vincent was on duty in the early morning of January 2 when the alarm went off that a baby rescue box had been used. When the firefighter arrived at the scene with a colleague to check if there was anything inside the box, he saw that “Zoey was lying there.”
The girl was the first baby to be placed in one of the boxes distributed by a non-profit organization throughout the state of Florida. These boxes are temperature controlled and allow parents to legally transfer their children. When used, the crates sound an alarm and notify rescuers immediately.
While rescuing Zoe, Vincent called an ambulance to take her to the hospital for observation. The fireman insisted on accompanying the child on the trip.
After giving the girl to the nurses, Vincent left a note for the doctor to pass on to social workers, where he explained that he wanted to adopt the girl. The fireman and his wife have been trying to adopt a child for almost 10 years without success.
“I didn’t know if the doctor would deliver my note. To be honest, I thought we might not see her again,” Vivent said.
A few days later, the couple took the girl home. “It was a whirlwind. Every day my wife and I still look at each other and can’t believe we have a baby.” “I can’t believe our Zoe is our daughter and how it all happened,” Vincent said.
