The National Maritime Authority has established a set of rules for beaches. Violators face fines ranging from tens to thousands of euros. Distributing a towel in dangerous or prohibited areas is punishable by law – fines range from 550 euros (individually) to 1100 euros (in the case of a group). Very large fines for those who use loudspeakers on the beach – from 200 to 4 thousand euros for individuals and from 2 thousand to 36 thousand for legal entities.
There are also fines for those who play ball outside designated areas or surf, kite surf or windsurf in areas designated for bathers – fines can reach up to 100 euros (individual) or 200 euros (groups). Recreational fishing in swimming areas between sunrise and sunset is also prohibited, as well as camping outside campsites. It is also prohibited to stack or leave any waste, glass objects or blunt objects outside of appropriate containers.
The Beach Ordinance also provides for a ban on the movement and stay of animals outside of permitted areas.
