A fire in the area of the military road next to Valorsul in Lumiare in Lisbon forced the evacuation this Thursday of two nursing homes with 47 people and Colegio Manuel Bernardes with 300 children and 50 adults. The fire is close to the houses that were also evacuated, around 15:15.
About 50 people were evacuated from their homes.
Around 17:00, the fire that broke out in the area of shrubs and dry grasses was localized and is already under liquidation. Three children and one adult were treated on the spot for carbon monoxide poisoning. The artificial turf on the college fields was eventually damaged by the fire.
As part of firefighting operations “just in case”, two houses were evacuated: Somos Vida with 27 people and Opus Dei with 20 people, 300 children and 50 adults from Colegio Manuel Bernardes and 50 people were evacuated from nearby houses. , said the 2nd commander of the fire-engineer regiment (RSB), adding that now residents can return to their homes.
More than 70 firefighters fought the fire with the support of 20 pieces of equipment.
The warning came at 14:43.
When asked about the origin of the fire, the head of the RSB said that it is still unknown, is “under consideration”, including by the police.
