Rafael Camacho’s high salary makes it difficult to accommodate a player who is not in Sporting’s plans for next season after his loan to the Greeks from Aris ends. When he signed with the Lions in 2019, the 23-year-old forward received a progressive salary. Now as he enters the final year of his contract, Camacho will be eligible for a net €1.7m, earning the highest salary in the team.
Since the player does not reckon with Ruben Amorim and assumes high costs (3.4 million euros gross, over and above the salary cap introduced by Frederico Varandas after signing Rafael Camacho), SAD wants to sell him this summer until from January you are not able to sign with zero cost to the other team.
Camacho has interested clubs, but none of them are paying as much as Sporting are asking (€7m and 10% of a future sale), given the parallel investment in the aforementioned salary. If it is not possible to sell a player, cm knows that the SAD allows for a new appointment to save on wages, or being fired if the player accepts less compensation.
