This Friday, Luanda Railway (CFL) announced that it will resume passenger and freight services between Luanda and Dondo on Saturday, which have been interrupted since 2019 due to covid-19.
The first privately operated passenger train with 105 passengers on board will depart at 6 am from Bungo Station to Dongdo Station, where it should arrive at 11 am, according to the CFL statement.
The train will consist of a GE-C30 locomotive, three first-class carriages, a lounge bar and a generator carriage.
The Camino de Ferro de Luanda rail link crosses three provinces.
(Luanda, Kuanza North and Malanje) and is divided by Zenza do Itombe on a branch line of 55 kilometers to Dondo, while the line from Luanda continues to Malanje for a total of 424 kilometers.
Currently, only freight trains operate in Malanje, while passenger trains mostly operate in the suburbs.
