French President Emmanuel Macron announced this Friday that “additional resources” will be mobilized to deal with the unrest that is taking place across France following the death on Tuesday of a young man shot dead by police.
Citing the responsibility of the parents of the young demonstrators, whom he asked to keep teenagers at home to put an end to the reported riots in the country, since most of the reported detainees are young people, Macron said that social media fueled the violence during the incidents and wanted to remove “confidential content”.
During a meeting of an inter-ministerial crisis committee held at the French Interior Ministry, Macron hailed the “quick and adequate” response of the security forces after three consecutive nights of unrest and denounced the “instrumentalization” of events.
