The widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI) carries risks for employers and citizens, researchers at Canadian company KPMG noted in a survey on the use of AI, CTV reports June 29.
The survey revealed the opinion of 5,140 Canadians. Of these, 1,052 (20%) reported using AI tools at work and school to generate ideas, write essays, and create presentations, which helped improve productivity and quality of work.
The researchers caution that such use carries risks.
“It is critical that organizations have clear processes and controls in place to ensure that employees do not enter sensitive information into AI requests or rely on false or misleading AI-generated content.”says the survey results report. The researchers suggested defining clear policies for employees on the use of such tools.
The survey showed that 23% of professionals enter information about their employer when accessing the AI tool. 10% indicated personal financial data. 15% admitted to entering other sensitive information, including human resources or supply chain data. At the same time, only 49% said they always check AI responses for accuracy, with 46% checking sometimes.
KPMG has assessed the extent of AI adoption in Canada. They received a value of 11.9, despite the fact that widespread use of the tool would give 100 points. At the same time, 18% use AI daily, 34% – several times a week, 26% – several times a month.
Slightly more than half of the users indicated that AI saves them up to five hours of work time per week, 67% that thanks to the help of AI they were able to do additional work and 65%, the use of AI it is critical for workload management. Nearly two-thirds of workers pass off the results of AI work as their own work.
75% of AI users are “seriously” concerned about the possibility of receiving false information, but despite this, 70% intend to continue using these tools.
Remember that Japan asks to limit the use of AI in schools. And for the New York lawyers, the use of AI resulted in a hefty fine.
