Thirteen men and three women were arrested by the PSP last Wednesday as part of an operation to combat drug trafficking, especially in the Bairro da Cruz Vermelha area of Lisbon, which began at 05:00.
A total of 22 search warrants were issued for houses in various parishes of the municipality of Lisbon, Amadora and Odivelas.
Three firearms were seized following the intervention, namely two revolvers and a sawed-off shotgun, 1,291 doses of hashish, 914 doses of heroin, 97 individual doses of cocaine and 2,537 euros in banknotes, the PSP said in a statement.
“The suspects are responsible for operating direct-to-consumer kiosks, for storing and distributing drugs at points of sale, and for significantly impacting the feeling of insecurity caused by residents of the neighborhood,” the statement said.
Of the 16 detainees present at the judicial interrogation, 14 were subjected to identification and length of stay, one was assigned a weekly performance, and the rest – an afternoon performance.
