On Monday, Israeli forces launched drone strikes on Jenin, the third largest city in the West Bank. At least eight people were killed and more than 50 were injured.
According to Reuters, the drones were heard in the air and the sounds of gunshots and explosions were heard throughout the city hours after the attacks.
At least six drones were seen flying over the city and the surrounding countryside, a densely populated area that is home to about 14,000 refugees in an area of less than half a square kilometer.
According to the same source, the Jenin Brigades, a unit made up of militant groups based in the city’s refugee camp, said they fought Israeli forces and that they shot down one of the drones.
