Days after the Football Leaks conviction, computer hacker Rui Pinto was indicted by the Ministry of Public Administration (MP) for a total of 377 computer crimes committed between 2016 and 2019. This led to an investigation into the club’s computer system and the Reds’ subsequent email exchange with the FC’s director of public relations. Porto, Francisco J. Marquez – for whom hacker also prosecuted – and the disclosure of documents and e-mail boxes on the Mercado de Benfica blog.
In addition to the attack on Benfica, Rui Pinto was also accused of accessing the email accounts of judges, prosecutors and court officials, clubs such as Leixões, Rio Ave or Vitória Sport Clube, Liga de Clubes, as well as law firms, members. IURD, as well as the journalists of Cofina.
