About 200,000 people and more than 91,000 households in Matsue in western Japan received emergency evacuation orders this Saturday due to the risk of flooding and landslides.
Local authorities issued a level four warning for the entire city at 8:40 am (1:40 am in Lisbon) following heavy rain that affected the region and residents of areas deemed dangerous were transferred to shelters.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Risk Management of the city of Matsue also informed all residents that as of 10:00 (03:00 in Lisbon) “several roads were closed due to flooding”, warning that other roads where traffic the flow is not blocked, they can be flooded.
