Bahia officially signed a contract with Gilberto. On social media, the Renato Paiva-led club left a few clues before confirming what everyone was expecting by announcing that the 30-year-old right-back was leaving Benfica and switching to the Brazilian badge for good.
Thus comes to an end the right-back’s three seasons with Benfica, during which he won the national title. In total, Gilberto played 106 games for the Eagles and scored 8 goals.
