Estonians donate less and less money to Ukraine because they are tired of the war issue, Red Cross spokesman Liis Erminger said on July 10, ERR reports.
“Last year, from the first of June to the beginning of July, 36,000 euros were donated. This year, this figure is six times lower: only 6,600 euros were donated. As for the future, the outlook is not very good. We receive aid requests from Ukraine with pauses of a month or so. For now, we can answer them, but for how long, I can’t say.”Erminger said.
The Red Cross representative noted with regret that the day is not far off when the flow of funds from the population will completely dry up. Other voluntary organizations also confirm the decline in donations from individuals, arguing that organizations, often international, are providing most of the support.
Remember that Estonia is among the leaders among the EU countries in terms of price increases. Trade networks in the republic notice that buyers first empty the shelves with discount products, the expiration date of which is coming to an end.
