A Portuguese man was arrested near Bordeaux, France after he was spotted driving a van at 150 km/h. Under the supervision of local police, it was found that he was transporting nine illegal immigrants from India in a car with only seven seats.
The arrest took place on Sunday, but it was not until this Monday that the “gendarmerie” (French police) in the Bordeaux region reported it.
According to the French press, in fact, the Portuguese conceived speed. Exceeding the speed limit of 20 km/h in the zone. He had his personal and vehicle documents in order, which did not happen with the immigrants he was transporting. All of them were undocumented.
Therefore, the Portuguese was detained on suspicion of facilitating illegal immigration. Before he was taken to the police premises, he admitted that he was heading to Portugal.
Nine illegal immigrants are in an administrative detention center in Bordeaux, awaiting a court decision on their cases.
