A mysterious skeleton was found last week by a man walking along a beach in Queensland, Australia.
Bobby-Lee Oates, the man who came across the skeleton, turned to a team of marine biologists to find out who the remains belonged to. The photos he posted on social media led many to think it might have belonged to an animal, a person, or even a mermaid.
Helen Marsh, professor of environmental science at James Cook University, believes the skeleton is from a decomposed marine mammal, most likely a seal.
“The marine mammals most likely to be this size are dolphins and seals,” said a university professor quoted by the publication. Daily mail.
It is not yet known who owns the mysterious skeleton.
