The key importance of the agreed sanctions as an element of foreign policy was confirmed by representatives of the United Kingdom and the United States on July 19 following the results of the first British-American dialogue on sanctions strategy at a meeting in Washington, the British government’s press service reported.
In a joint statement, the parties indicated that the talks were the implementation of the 2023 Atlantic Declaration to strengthen cooperation in the field of “strategies for sanctions, design, targets, implementation, mitigation and enforcement, bringing together UK and US ministries and agencies to discuss priorities around geographic and thematic sanctions regimes”.
The parties also discussed the possibility of harmonizing the methods of applying sanctions and harmonizing “autonomous regimes of sanctions”.
The statement says that the parties “suffered unprecedented costs” for sanctions against Russia.
In addition to Russia, it was about the sanctions regimes against Sudan, Myanmar and Iran.
