Former US President Donald Trump’s trial for allegedly illegally hiding hundreds of confidential documents will begin next May, the court ruled.
A federal court in Florida has set a trial for May 20, 2024, a compromise between a prosecutor’s request to set a trial for December and a proposal by lawyers to schedule it after the 2024 presidential election, in which Trump intends to run as the Republican nominee.
If there is a date, it will be shortly after another Trump trial in New York, in which the former president faces dozens of state charges for falsifying business documents in a case involving paying a bribe to a pornographic actress.
