IL says the interruption of the Council of State shows the influence of a government “that leaves everything in the middle.”

The leader of the Liberal Initiative said this Saturday that the disruption of Friday’s meeting of the State Council is an example of the influence of the socialist government on a country in which “everything is half done.”

“I believe that the State Council, due to what was reported, was interrupted. Apparently, the Prime Minister was on a business trip and therefore could not complete it.

“And the State Council, in fact, is no different. This is António Costa’s contribution: to interrupt growth, to interrupt discussion, to interrupt the development of the country. What happened yesterday in the Council of State is a good example,” the IL leader added, speaking to reporters at the Livramento market in Setúbal.

When asked about the commission of inquiry into TAP, the IL president called the final report a “farce”.

“Everyone saw what happened. Just like the report that PS wanted to submit, and which only it approved, tried to create an alternative version of the facts. But the Portuguese saw what happened in the TAP commission of inquiry, and therefore such conclusions are drawn. The report was a farce.

“Now it is necessary to know whether TAP will be privatized or not, under what conditions, with whom and what is the future of TAP. Here is what needs to be clarified urgently at the moment. And again, the Prime Minister, whether in regard to the report, or in regard to what happened in the TAR investigation committee, or in relation to the future of the TAR, does not answer. But this is a feature of the prime minister. The Prime Minister either does not answer, or when he answers, he lies,” he said.

During a visit to Setúbal as part of the IL Rotas Liberais initiative, Rui Rocha also mentioned the situation in the Ministry of Defense that led to the resignation of Secretary of State Marco Capitao Ferreira and which he said was “a very badly told story”.

The Liberal Initiative, from the very beginning, has long stated that Marco Capitan Ferreira was not the right person to work in government. However, persistence in accepting him into the government – now we know on what terms.

“It seems that the defense was led by Alberto Coelho, and not Minister Cravinho. Well, we cannot have a minister who is consistently overtaken by events, who allows himself to be manipulated, who allows himself to be involved, especially in such dubious stories,” said Rui Rocha.

Therefore, the leader of the IL does not understand why António Costa insists on keeping in the government some of the ministers involved in the controversy, such as Joao Cravinho, as well as Joao Galamba and Maria do Seu Antunes.

“How does the prime minister want to run the country if he can’t run his team? How does he have such dubious, such fragile people involved in such dark processes, and he insists on keeping these people in his government?” he asks.
