Ferries for the transportation of rolling stock (rail cars and trucks) are not enough on shipping lines for the delivery of goods to the Kaliningrad region, said Andrey Moshkov, head of the Kaliningrad department of FSUE Rosmorport, on December 6 , reports TASS.
“From the point of view of transporting the rolling stock and railcars of the ferry fleet…we really see a shortage…right now”, – he said. 19 ships are already operating on the lines, but only 6 ferries are equipped to carry rolling equipment, Moshkov noted.
The Minister of Infrastructure Development of the region, Evgenia Kukushkina, spoke about the ongoing negotiations on the supply of ferries to the RO-RO line (equipped for the transportation of rolling equipment), while “a decision will be required at the level of federal legislation and federal executive authorities”. He clarified that, probably, by the end of the year, the companies will deliver documents of intent.
Remember that after the introduction of EU sanctions, the delivery of goods to the Kaliningrad region has become much more complicated. Regional carriers are faced with a number of problems that require a non-standard approach to solving them.
