Peru’s parliament this Wednesday approved a vote of no confidence in the country’s president for “moral incompetence,” hours after Pedro Castillo announced the dissolution of the body and the creation of an “emergency government.”
The deputies voted in an extraordinary meeting on Castillo’s third no-confidence vote for “permanent moral incompetence”, which was approved by 101 votes against the required 87. Of the 130 deputies, only a few from the Peru Livre party voted against, Peruvian radio RPP reported.
Parliament is asking Vice President Dina Boluarte to assume the presidency as stipulated by the constitution, reports Europa Press.
Pedro Castillo this Wednesday decided to dissolve Parliament a few hours before the meeting to discuss the “impeachment” of the head of state and announced the creation of an “emergency government”.
