Red alert in Braganca due to heat

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), only the Bragança area is under a red alert this Wednesday, the most severe due to the heat.

According to IPMA, the red alert will remain in place until 11:00 pm Wednesday, then change to yellow (the third most severe) and remain until at least 00:00 Saturday.

The Faro area is under orange warning until at least the end of the week.

Also, due to the persistence of high temperatures, IPMA is under a yellow warning until the end of the week in the areas of Beja, Evora, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Portalegre. For Vila Real and Viseu, a yellow warning is also active, but only until the end of the day.

IPMA has also issued a yellow warning for the north and south coasts of Madeira due to the heat, as well as for Porto Santo, a warning that extends from Thursday to mountainous areas and changes to orange from 00:00 on the 10th in Porto Santo and Porto – Santo. on the south coast of Madeira, valid until at least Saturday.

This Wednesday, IPMA predicts continued hot weather inland and a decrease in maximum temperature in the center and on the northern coast, with the exception of the northeast of Trás os Montes, as well as a slight increase in maximum temperature in the Algarve.

Periods of very cloudy skies are also forecast, with a gradual decrease in cloudiness from south to north from the beginning of the day, and it may remain in places on the coastal strip north of Cabo Raso, where it can rain until late in the morning.

In terms of temperature, the minimum temperature will range from 17ºC (Vila Real, Braga, Viana do Castelo, Viseu and Sines) to 22ºC (Castelo Branco) and the maximum temperature will range from 23ºC (Viana do Castelo) to 38ºC (Braganza).
