The recovery of Germany’s semiconductor industry could serve as a backbone for the ecosystem and support for EU sovereignty, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on December 9, the Reuters news agency reported.
_“We are working hard to rebuild the semiconductor industry in Germany that we have. That it doesn’t exist is a myth,” said Scholz. According to him, the German semiconductor industry is competitive, very strong and already exists.
“With the investments already announced and those to come, I believe we could become a major semiconductor manufacturer in Europe”said the German chancellor. _ “This could become the basis of an ecosystem that would help the sovereignty not only of Germany, but also of the European Union, so that we are not dependent on other regions,” Olaf Scholz summed up in his statement.
