Russian Linux distributions are an alternative to Microsoft’s operating system, and many are switching to them, Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev told reporters on August 12 during the Digital Evolution forum.
According to him, now the department is studying the information received about the termination of the subscription of Russian clients of the American company. He noted that it was clear to everyone where the process was headed. To switch to other operating systems it took a year and a half.
“Many in this regard are switching to Russian Linux-based operating systems”the minister pointed out.
Recall that previously Microsoft informed Russian customers that they will not renew subscriptions to software products from September 30. In March last year, the company already announced the cessation of the sale of its software in Russia.
