The beaches of Argasos and Lumiar in Carres, Viana do Castelo, are available for swimming from this Saturday after a water quality test, the city council said.
“The recommendation not to swim due to water quality at two beaches was lifted this Saturday after new tests were completed with good results,” the municipality said in a Facebook post.
Two beaches, one by the river and the other by the sea, have been banned from swimming since Wednesday due to poor water quality.
The decision, announced by the health delegate Camara de Viana do Castelo and the captain, came after an analysis of the municipality’s river and sea waters, which revealed a “parameter beyond quality” associated with the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria. ‘.
After the ban, the red flag was raised on the beach of the Argasos River, which is a protected swimming area.
On the beach of Lumiar, which is located by the sea and is not guarded, signs were posted advising not to swim in the sea.
