For the Rostov region there is a threat of shelling from Ukraine
The Rostov region has an administrative border with the DNR and LNR. For the region, there is a considerable threat of bombing and sabotage from kyiv. From time to time, information pops up on local social media about explosion-like outbursts in the sky or about sighted aircraft. Fortunately, in most cases it turns out that these messages are not related to real threats. In some cases, the authorities refrain from making intelligible comments.
So, on August 11, information appeared on local Telegram channels that an unmanned aerial vehicle was allegedly seen in the sky over Rostov-on-Don. According to an eyewitness, the UAV was moving from Stachki Avenue towards the Tekuchevsky Bridge.
“The information is being confirmed. The air defense system did not work”– commented the press secretary of the governor Irina Chetvertakova. However, there were no clarifying comments either that same day or the next day. Residents wonder: what flew over Rostov-on-Don?
At the same time, in several cases, the authorities provide quick and detailed information on incidents with shelling of the territories of the region. This was the case, for example, on July 28, when a Ukrainian rocket hit the center of Taganrog. Information about the consequences of this missile attack continues to appear in official sources.
Exhibits damaged during the missile attack will be shipped from Taganrog to St. Petersburg
Exhibits from the Taganrog Art Museum, which suffered as a result of a rocket attack inflicted by kyiv on July 28, will be transported to St. Petersburg for restoration. Employees of the Russian Museum, who arrived in Taganrog, studied the damage on the paintings. Today, the exhibits are being prepared for transportation.
The exhibits will go to the Russian Museum in special boxes in a van with a system to maintain optimal temperature and humidity conditions. After being transported to St. Petersburg, the paintings will be further studied, after which they will be restored by experts on the basis of the restoration workshops of the Russian Museum.
“The works have received significant damage. But we hope that the losses will be recovered thanks to modern and timely restoration actions. A long and difficult job awaits us, but we will do everything possible to return the masterpieces to the audience in their original form.– said Marat Dashkin, head of the department of restoration of easel oil painting of the Russian Museum.

Rostov-on-Don did not abandon plans to build a metro
Talk about the creation of a metro in the million-plus city of Rostov-on-Don has been going on since the 80s of the last century. In the 1990s this topic practically disappeared, but since the year 2000 it has periodically reappeared on the agenda.
Meanwhile, in 2021, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Marat Khusnullin, said that it was not advisable to build a full metro in large Russian cities. In Rostov-on-Don, it was decided to create a high-speed tram.
However, it turned out that the plans to build a metro in Rostov-on-Don were not completely abandoned. The subway lines and stations remained in the general plan of the city.
“This is necessary to leave the opportunity to implement this project in the future. If metro stations are now removed from the master plan, then other objects can be built in their place – residential buildings, etc.– explained the head of the press service of the City Duma Mikhail Dobrinsky.
At the same time, he noted that the preservation of the metro in the general plan does not mean at all that it will be built for sure.
