The Second Games of the CIS countries in Belarus, in which athletes from 13 countries participated, have been completed, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev said on August 13, the Belarusian TV channel “24 hours” reports.
“Despite the barriers of sanctions, sports, peace and friendship reigned in Belarus for ten days”Lebedev said.
He stressed that not only athletes from Commonwealth countries, but also athletes from 13 faraway countries participated in the games.
The flag of the Commonwealth of Independent States was solemnly handed over to the organizing committee of the Games, which will be held in 2025 in Azerbaijan.
Note that Russia ranks first in the medal standings with 149 gold, 89 silver and 50 bronze medals. The team from Belarus (48-78-110) took second place, and the third – the team from Uzbekistan (28-25-52).
Sports competitions were held for two thousand athletes from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and 13 other countries.
The games were held in 11 cities of Belarus in 20 sports.
