The city has bought more than 3,000 buses and two Baltiets metro trains, said St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov during a hotline on the St. Petersburg TV channel on December 10, reports the press service of the city administration.
It is reported that in 2022, the fleets purchased more than three thousand buses. The renovation of the metro trains has started, two Baltiets trains are already running on the lines. The number of new metro cars will reach 950 by 2031. Within three years, it is planned to purchase more than 300 trams and more than 300 trolleybuses, by 2028 almost 1200 trams and trolleybuses will be purchased.
99 new routes appeared in the city. The benefits and single tickets are valid for all modes of transport. Transfers can be made within the paid route.
“We solved several problems at once. It was necessary to start with the replacement of the transport itself, with a modern one, more comfortable, safe and respectful of the environment. We made all transportation social, accessible for people with limited mobility, and most importantly, predictable so that their movement can be tracked over the internet.” said the governor.
The head of the region added that after the payment is made electronically, it immediately goes to the city treasury, and not to private merchants. These funds are expected to be used for the development of urban transport.
According to Beglov, the transport reform allows purifying most of the routes. Electronic payment makes it possible to track congestion on each route, allowing for around a thousand route changes. It is noted that all the resources of the citizens are being studied.
It is also noted that the number of accidents has decreased by 20%. At the same time, the number of accidents at the fault of bus drivers decreased by 30%, according to data for the period from July 1 to October 1. The number of victims decreased by 12%.
It should be noted that exclusive lanes for public transport are being created. To give transportation an advantage, traffic lights are being adjusted. In addition, after the appeal of the citizens, the rates are being optimized: “60 minutes” for land transport and “90 minutes” for combined with the metro.
