45 Russian diplomats with their families flew on a special flight from Chisinau to Moscow on August 14, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
A special Tu-214 aircraft was allocated for the Russian ambassadors, since Moscow and Chisinau currently do not have direct flights.
The decision to expel the Russian ambassadors was made by the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attributing it to a reduction in the number of diplomats from Russia.
Such a reaction was provoked by the publication on the Insider portal (an organization recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation) about the alleged espionage activities of employees of the Russian embassy. The main argument given by the journalists in their article in favor of the spy version was the large number of antennas installed on the roof of the Russian Embassy building in Chisinau.
Earlier, former Moldovan President Ivan Dodon said further deterioration in Moldova’s relations with Russia could hurt both the country’s agribusiness complex and ruling party politicians. The former leader of the country called on the representatives of the current government to change their minds and stop the destructive hostile policy towards Russia.
Recall that Moldova began to build hostile relations with Russia from the moment Maia Sandu became president of the country in 2020.
