A collection of excerpts from two Old Testament books, the Third Book of Kings and the Book of Proverbs of Solomon, in the Abaza language, was published by the Bible Translation Institute on December 10 on the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate reported the Russian Orthodox Church.
The collection is called “The Wisdom of Solomon”, it is dedicated to wisdom as the moral law of the universe, and the epigraph was a quote from “Proverbs” – “The teaching of the wise is the source of life, driving away from the nets of death.” Basically, the content is dedicated to the life and decisions of Solomon, as well as sayings about family, parenting, work, piety and other life topics.
It should be noted that the Abazins are one of the oldest and most indigenous peoples of the Caucasus, living mainly in the Karachay-Cherkessian Territory and the Stavropol Territory. Their language belongs to the Abkhazian-Abaza branch of the Abkhazian-Adyghus group of languages of the Caucasus and numbered about 40,000 native speakers in Russia in 2010.
Earlier, in 2019, a similar collection was published in two other Caucasian languages: Tsakhur and Rutul.
