A Boavista supporter was arrested on Monday during a League I football match between Accadresados and Benfica for failing to comply with a ban on access to sports facilities, a police source told Lusa on Tuesday.
A 29-year-old cheerleader from the Boavista Panteras Negras cheerleading club was discovered by Public Security Police (PSP) “spotters” and detained to stand trial for disobedience.
The same source added that the fan complied with a 15-month precautionary measure forbidding access to sports facilities enforced by the Office for the Prevention and Control of Violence in Sports (APCVD) for using pyrotechnics in the last match between FC Porto. and Boavista of Liga I on 30 April for an infraction that also cost him a €1,500 fine.
On Monday, Boavista beat champions Benfica 3-2 in the game that completed the first round of the 1st league.
