On Friday afternoon, a forest fire broke out in Urem, which is under liquidation.
The alarm was announced at 15:30.
According to a source from the Sub-Regional Directorate for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense from Middle Tagus to Lusa, the fire covers a patch of bush that has a “suburban perimeter”, although “there is still no information about houses in danger.”
“The wind interferes” with operations on the ground, the same source added, noting that the fire has an active front.
The firefighting strategy had to be adjusted due to the proximity of the fire to small clusters of houses.
This fire was originally attributed to the parish of Karangeheira in the municipality of Leiria.
However, this new fire broke out at 15:30 in the city of Uteiro das Guimaras, in the municipality of Ourén, district of Santarém.
311 firefighters are on site, supported by 100 vehicles. There were even 15 planes.
