This Saturday, a two-year-old child escaped unscathed after being thrown by a runaway van entering the Festa de Sobreira, Arganil site, injuring 3 serious and 5 minor injuries. “The car caught the wheel from the cart, in which there was a boy who was spat on the ground,” says a local resident.
Those who were at the scene say they experienced moments of disaster: “The van appeared out of nowhere, driving no one, and carried everything forward. I just managed to jump aside. There was general panic, people screaming. It was like a horror movie.”
Residents find it strange what happened to the car that was supposed to be parked at the top of the entrance to the enclosure. “The owner was at the ball for over an hour, playing table football, and he had the keys,” residents say. On the sloping ramp, the car, unlocked, picked up speed and “took a few from behind, four of which remained under the car.” The party that started on Friday and ended today has been cancelled, leaving only mass. Firefighters from Arganil, Penakova and Vila Nova de Poyares came to the rescue.
