Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday defended increased cooperation between the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) to guarantee the world’s food and energy supplies.
“Russia is in favor of establishing closer cooperation within the BRICS framework for reliable and uninterrupted supplies of energy and food resources to world markets,” Putin said during a video conference at the summit in Johannesburg (South Africa).
Putin stressed that Moscow is increasing the supply of fuel, agricultural products and fertilizers to the countries of the south and is helping to strengthen global food and energy security, fight poverty and hunger in the countries most in need.
