Ángeles Bejar, mother of ousted Royal Spanish Football Federation President Luis Rubiales, is closed and goes on hunger strike at a church in Motril, in Granada, Spain, until a solution is found to the “inhumane and bloody persecution” that she says they are doing so with her son.
Angeles was locked in the church after the local parish priest left the premises, accompanied only by his sister. Rubiales’ mother guarantees that the action will continue “for an indefinite period of time, day and night” until justice is done for her son, “who does not deserve such treatment,” she told the EFE news agency.
The woman asks Jenny Hermoso, the player Rubiales kissed, to “tell the truth” and “keep the original version of what happened”.
“Sexual abuse doesn’t exist if there is consent from both parties, as the images show,” he asserts, before adding that his son is “incapable of harming anyone.”
In the end, the mother asks for everyone’s understanding and says that a similar situation can happen to anyone.
