The family of Emidiu Pires, who died about an hour after being discharged from the emergency room at the Padre Americano hospital in Penafiel, is disgusted and vows to file a criminal complaint against the hospital for medical malpractice.
A 76-year-old man from Paredes went to the emergency room twice because of breathing problems. One on Thursday, one on Saturday. Emidiu Pires was released from the hospital again on Sunday. He was taken home by his family. He died about an hour later.
Penafiel Hospital, contacted morning Postexpressed regret over the death of the user and said that an internal process had been launched to investigate the matter.
Relatives of Emidiu Pires gathered outside the mortuary of the Office of the Penafiel Institute of Forensic Medicine to protest the delay in the autopsy. Death came last Sunday.
