The arrest of Igor Strelkov (Girkin) accused of inciting extremism was legally recognized by the Moscow City Court during a meeting on August 29.
The judge decided to leave the decision of the capital’s Meshchansky Court on the arrest unchanged and dismiss the appeals.
Recall that Strelkov was arrested on July 21 in Moscow. He was charged with spreading extremist appeals online. According to the plaintiffs, in his posts Strelkov urged extremist actions and insulted the President of Russia.
In 2014, Strelkov led the DPR militia units in the city of Slavyansk. On July 5, he with part of his forces left the city without loss and headed for Donetsk.
He later admitted in an interview that he also intended to leave the DPR capital. However, he was removed from the command of the militia units and left for Russia. Donetsk remained vacated by Ukrainian troops and Slavyansk is still under his control.
