In a statement clarifying the statements of the Police Union (Sinapol), the NP’s national directorate acknowledged that the number of personnel is “still insufficient” and therefore has an ongoing recruitment plan in place to ensure that staffing gaps are filled. until next year.
The same source said that 132 additional second-class agents completed their training in March and are now joining the institution following the approval of the recruitment process by the Accounts Chamber.
“In order to continue to strengthen police units where shortages persist and, as a result, improve the current workload,” he said.
In addition, he noted that another training course will begin in September, this time aimed at candidates approved in the last competition and remaining in the recruiting pool, with an expected recruitment of another 60 second-class agents by the end of the year.
He added that a tender is currently underway for another 132 agents, whose training will begin in principle in February and end in July next year.
Until next year, the PN provides for the admission of another 324 new agents.
With the implementation of this plan, the country’s leadership “thinks to significantly solve the problem of the shortage of policemen, which arises for various reasons, namely retirement, illness, refusals and dismissals,” he said.
The Cape Verdean police said they were “attentive to the situation of the personnel” and emphasized that they were flexible in instructing leaders that until the necessary reinforcements were received, the duty states were adjusted to the needs and dynamics of the units. , guaranteeing the troops a proper balance gap.
