The Public Security Police (PSP) announced this Friday the arrest of a 36-year-old man suspected of domestic violence against his mother in Coimbra, a crime for which he has already been convicted.
The PSP statement said the arrest took place on Thursday evening near a private home, and the defendant, “already convicted of this type of crime, violated a court-ordered coercive measure to remove the victim.” and went to the place of residence to his mother, 64 years old.
“Alert of the situation by radio, the PSP went to the victim’s residence, which activated the electronic teleassistance system,” the statement said, adding that “on arrival at the scene, the police verified that the suspect was near the door.” from home, and, realizing the presence of the police, shouted that he had killed his mother, ”for which he was arrested.
According to the statement, “as the police approached, they heard screams coming from inside the residence asking for help and assistance” and “inside the residence, it was possible to determine that the front door had been broken into.” .
The victim reported that her son “broke into the house and threatened her with death”, told PSP, adding that “a razor with a total length of 23.5 centimeters was found near the entrance to the house, 11.5 of which was a blade, an object that, as confirmed by the suspect, is his property.
The man, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, had a blood test for alcohol with a reading of 2.11.
“The detainee was present in court today, what measures of coercion were applied to him are still unknown,” the report says.
