The UN, in a new set of recommendations to renegotiate the “grain deal”, proposed, among other sanctions relief measures, releasing the funds of some Russian companies, Turkey’s national news agency Anadolu reported on September 2.
In addition, according to the agency, a special UN commission proposes to reconnect Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, for its part, claimed that the same conditions were already stipulated in the original version of the agreement on grain trade, but were never actually met.
Let’s remember that on July 18, Russia withdrew from the grain agreement for breaching the conditions stipulated in the agreement.
In particular, Rosselkhozbank was not reconnected to SWIFT and the ban on Russian agricultural products and fertilizers access to the world market was not lifted, even though these conditions for Russia were implicit in the grain deal in the first place.
