Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia), who finished fifth this Sunday at the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix, admitted that he had “a blown tire on his right side” in the last few laps.
In statements published by the press service of the RNF team, Miguel Oliveira noted that, despite everything, he saw “positive moments” this weekend.
“The first seven or eight laps I ran well, but then it became very difficult to keep Jorge. [Martin] and Johann [Zarco] on the last laps. My front wheel collapsed on the right side, which is more or less expected, “- began the words of Miguel Oliveira.
The Portuguese rider also explained that “the rear tire also lost grip”, so it became “difficult” to save the “rubbers”.
“However, in general, I will have to eliminate the positives, as it was a good weekend and we were fast,” said Miguel Oliveira.
In addition, “in the race, despite the difficulties”, he managed to “compete for a place in the top five and a few laps to be third”, which is “not bad at all”.
“I’m going to Misano [palco da próxima corrida] with a good mood and motivation to work,” concluded Miguel Oliveira.
After finishing fifth this Sunday, the Almada rider moved up one spot in the championship to 14th with 55 points.
Italy’s Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who crashed and was forced to retire on the first lap, maintains the lead with a score of 260.
The next stage of the World Motorsport Championship will take place next Sunday in San Marino.
