Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to talks in Sochi, Russia, saying that they would discuss the situation in Ukraine and that, according to ReutersRussia is open to negotiations on the Black Sea grain deal, which Moscow pulled out of in July.
Erdogan also said he would make a “very important” statement on grain exports after meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
“I believe that the message that we will convey at the press conference that will follow our meeting will be very important for the world and, in particular, for the developing countries of Africa,” the Turkish president said.
Putin said at the start of talks with Erdogan that they had raised relations between the two countries to a “very good and high level.” The Russian president also said that he hopes that the two countries will soon complete negotiations on the creation of a “center” in Turkey for the export of Russian gas.
