The Justice Department has charged a 30-year-old man with fatally stabbing a taxi driver in Rio de Muro, in Sintra, according to the publication. Newspaper (JN). The accused attacked a man with 28 stab wounds to steal 102 euros for drugs in the early hours of 29 December.
André Rodrigues called Rádio Táxis Costa do Sol/Cascais to ask for a car to Rua da Torre in Cascais, an isolated location. Driver Edimilson de Matos answered the call and drove to the scene.
When they reached the end of the trip, the defendant put his arm around Edimilson’s neck and demanded to give him the money he had. The taxi driver resisted and forced the aggressor to inflict “about 28 blows to the face, neck, chest and lumbar region,” the newspaper cites the details of the accusation. JN.
Attacking the driver, Andre Rodriguez pulled 102 euros out of his pocket. Edimilson nevertheless opened the door, but he could not go far, falling and covered in blood.
The accused threw the knife he used to kill the taxi driver and called TVDE to take him to Cova da Moura in Amadora. Shortly thereafter, he went to a friend’s house in Estoril, where he was detained by the Lisbon Judicial Police, who identified him from a call to a taxi center.
Andre Rodriguez was known to authorities for violent crimes, claims JN. He was held in custody and is charged with qualified murder, aggravated robbery, failure to assist and possession of a prohibited weapon.
