Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that he expects a “difficult winter” in his country during a meeting in Kyiv with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“We are in for a difficult winter (…) Maybe we will get new experience. But we are glad that we are not going to face it alone. We will do it with our partners,” Zelensky told Blinken, thanking the United States. for helping Ukraine, citing in particular the energy sector, which was the target of systematic Russian attacks during the cold season last year.
The President of Ukraine said that every visit to Kiev by a US leader “is a great message of support” and asked Blinken to convey this message to his American counterpart Joe Biden, expressing gratitude to the White House and Congress for bipartisan support and “Great Unity” around Ukraine.
